Tenses
Past perfect continuous (I had been doing).
Yesterday morning I got us and looked out of the window. The sun was shining but the ground was very wet. It had been raining.
Present continuous and present simple.
The water is boiling. Can you turn it off? --- Water boils at 100 degrees celsius. Listen to those people. What language are they speaking? --- Excuse me, do you speak English? Let's go out. It isn't raining now. --- It doesn't rain very much in summer.
Past continuous.
Yesterday Karen and Jim played tennis. They began at 10 o'clock and finished at 11.30. So, at 10.30 they were playing tennis.
Present tenses (I am doing/I do) for the future.
This is Tom's diary for next week. He is playing tennis on Monday afternoon. He is going to the dentist on Tuesday morning. He is having dinner with Ann on Friday.
Present perfect continuous and simple. (I have been doing and I have done).
Ann's clothes are covered in paint. --- The ceiling was white. Now it is blue. She has been painting the ceiling. --- She has painted the ceiling.
Present perfect continuous (I have been doing).
It is raining? No, but the ground is wet. It has been raining.
