The Article

A/An is used only with singular countable nonus to talk about things in general. We don't use a/an with uncountable or plural nouns.

We can use a/an or the before a singular countable noun to refer to a class of people? animals or things. mowever, we onut a/an or the before a noun in the plural when it represents a class.

The is used with singular and plural nouns, countable and uncountable ones, to talk about something specigic, or when the noun is mentioned for a second time.

Also the is used with some words, like beach, cinema, country, ground, sea, theatre, world etc.

A - an indefinite article (one)

1. I have a book.

2. There is a book on the table.

3. This is a cat.

4. He is a doctor.

5. Give me a book.

The - a definite article (this)

1. Yesterday you went to the cinema. Did you like the cinema?

2. The Russian Federation.

3.The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northen Ireland.

4. The Volga, the Botlic sea, the Black sea, the Atlantic Ocean (Indian, Arctic).
