Russians in New York
The United States of America is a multinational country. There are many russians living here. The great
amount of them live in New York. They moved there during the the period of Soviet Union in Russia.  The
main reasons for immigration from the Soviet Union and other East European countries included widespread
anti-semitism, tight government control of the lives of ordinary citizens, a difficult economic situation, and
the violation of basic rights such as freedom of speech and religious practice.
