In 1993 for the first time in history of biathlon Borndalen has won all three kinds of the program in the World championship among juniorov. Then it was unexpected for many, in fact it couple of years back only has declared all itself(himself) in world biathlon, and suddenly - the Olympic champion!...
And nevertheless it happens: after a unsatisfactory seventh place in individual race, Ole wins the first Olympic medal - gold - in the favourite sprint. Though and not without problems, only from the second attempt: the previous race in which it was in the lead after the first shooting, has been cancelled because of a bad weather and transferred next day. Represent, what disappointment? " I was rather malicious, - spoke in interview Berndalen, - but five minutes later I were already ready to new race. " And it really was more than is ready. Next day, when competition has renewed, its brilliant shooting and fantastic speed have provided to it more than minute otryva from its comrade on command Frode Andresena which became the silver prize-winner. The Norwegian command in relay race also has not bad enough acted, taken the second place. Since 1998, Berndalen finished the second and the third in the general offset of the Cup of the world, twice it conceded to Svenu Fisher (1997, 1999) and three times - Rafaelju Puare (2000, 2001, 2002). But biathlon is first of all a combination of two kinds of sports (it and is interesting to those), and shooting Berndalena very often leaves much to be desired. Quite often after races in the interviews it speaks, that is dissatisfied with the shooting and could do it much better.
Its fate became fatal bad luck in the World championships. Since 1995 of any gold medal. As a rule, the reason of its failures on World champions is shooting, except for can be the Championship in it to year when in weights-starts it was close to gold as never.
